LiveWire Safety Recall

On February 26, 2024, LiveWire, Harley-Davidson's electric offshoot, issued a safety recall for all 2024 LiveWire S2 Del Mar motorcycles sold in the US due to a software issue.

These motorcycles may experience a sudden shutdown of the electric powertrain while in operation, making it difficult to restart. Approximately 523 bikes in the US are affected, representing 100% of the population.

Affected bikes were manufactured between July 26, 2023 and January 30, 2024. If you own a 2024 S2 Del Mar, it is likely affected, and you should seek recall service immediately.

The issue is related to the Vehicle Supervisory Controller (VSC) software, which may trigger a powertrain shutdown if voltage thresholds are exceeded. LiveWire will provide an over-the-air (OTA) software update to address this issue, available for owners to install themselves or have a LiveWire dealer perform the update at no charge.

The official LiveWire Firmware OTA update was released on February 6, 2024, and vehicles produced after the specified period are not affected by the recall. LiveWire notified dealerships between February 29, 2024 and March 4, 2024, and will send owner notification letters between March 5, 2024 and March 12, 2024.
