Royal Enfield's Electric Motorcycle Plans

Royal Enfield, a rapidly growing motorcycle manufacturer, is known for its stylish and affordable motorcycles that capture the essence of motorcycling. As the industry moves towards electric vehicles, Royal Enfield aims to preserve that essence by releasing its first electric motorcycle in 2025.

A recent report by The Hindu Business Line confirms that Royal Enfield is on track with its plan to launch an electric motorcycle. However, the brand will also continue to focus on internal combustion offerings to meet the changing needs of the market.

To achieve their goal, Royal Enfield has established a dedicated division for electric vehicle operations and has invested heavily in this endeavor. They have assembled a team of nearly 100 members, including Mario Alvisi, the Chief Growth Officer who previously worked at Ducati. This team is focused on developing distinctive, high-performing, and enjoyable-to-ride electric motorcycles that embody the essence of Royal Enfield.

In addition, Royal Enfield's parent company, Eicher Motors, has strategically invested in Stark Future, a Spanish electric mobility firm. This partnership aims to leverage each other's strengths and collaborate on future developments.

While Royal Enfield will rely on imports for certain components like battery cells, they are either manufacturing essential components in-house or partnering with supply chain providers. They have already onboarded 11-12 new suppliers and are exploring additional potential suppliers.
